Day Six (of Twenty-Eight)

What She Wore: red pajama pants; light blue t-shirt; socks. I’m not going anywhere today and it’s freezing, so I didn’t bother changing this morning–classy, huh?

Charlie is on strike. He no longer wants anything to do with a bottle. Now, I’ve checked the internet and he’s not the first baby to do this, but it’s still a little unsettling. Four of his daily bottles are laced with medicine and right now we’re having trouble getting them all down. I may have to concoct a new devious plan to drug my child [insert devilish wink]. The OT says that we need to move quickly to the cup, so he still gets his liquids. She wasn’t too concerned, though, since his overall intake seems OK. I think the little prince just prefers having everything spoon fed. It’s a tough life.

On a totally different topic, Target has put these really awesome (I’m a child of the 80s) stool/ottoman/tables on sale. They come in black and white and they’re only thirty dollars. I can think of about a million places in my house where one of these babies could go. Now if only I could sneak out of the house for about an hour. . .

  1. On strike? No way! Guess he’s ready to move up to the cup. πŸ˜‰

I wholly support an Obama Edwards ticket for 08. I like JOhn Edwards. I just think John Edwards is a Vice President. And I know Hillary would never pick him, so are best shot is Obama/Edwards. Cross your fingers. Edwards is only 5 poll points behind Clinton here. Throw in margin of error, and he’s doing pretty good, I think. A strong showing here could guarantee him that VP spot.

Dante went on a bottle strike before, it’s a real pain isn’t it??? Is the little guy still on strike??

I’m glad he’s doing “friggin fabulous” but I’m sure it sucks to be stuck inside the house for such a long time. Hope you’re able to get out soon!

  3. Does his strike mean that he’s entering a new phase…a big boy phase? Could a sippy cup be next?

  4. My younger daughter went through that phase too. I used to add a little bit of sugar to her bottle and heat it up a bit more so it made it tastier. Not a wonderful idea, i know..but especially if his bottles have meds..it could be making the milk more bitter. The sugar would help i think. Not for the long term, but at least for now that he needs to do this regimen…

  5. Good luck on making it through your 28 days.

Heck yeah, if I don’t have anywhere to go it’s very doubtful I’ll be getting dressed that day.

I’m lovin’ that stool thing! I say just sneak out while Charlie’s napping….just kiddin’. I’m sure someone would come save you!

  7. Wow, I guess Charlie has decided he wants to grow up fast and go straight to a spoon or cup!! Hope he cooperates somehow and doesn’t make things too difficult for you to get him his meds!

  8. Good stuff! Charlie is growing up. You know he may be rejecting the bottles because he is not liking the meds. So good luck with the creativity!
    The ottoman is cool.
Those pumps are awesome loving the poufs LOL
Sorry about your Grandpa! And for your distress.
I send you hugs and hope that you have a great weekend!

  9. Is there another way to flavor his medicine? I know that those flavors are strong and really are hard to take for a child, it is no wonder that he is striking, you would too! πŸ˜‰ I remember those days well, hang in there mom!
