Day Twenty-Four

What She Wore: Blue plaid pajama pants; blue t-shirt; tennis shoes. Working clothes.

I spent all day working at my new house, and I’d like to introduce you to my mortal enemy:

THE BORDER THAT WOULDN’T DIE!!!!

I spent eight hours and I’m a little over half-done. Looks like this is going to be a long-term project.

Those aren’t my knick knacks, by the way. This is a picture I took when we first looked at the house–the place is a complete wreck right now.

  1. Yeah, wallpaper of any kind is a pain in the rear to take down!!! Don’t worry, there will be many more things that will be a pain in the rear now that you own a house – and those things will make this wallpaper border seem like a walk in the park. How’s that for encouragement? LOL But you know what crazy, out of the ordinary things we’ve gone through with our house…so my viewpoint is a little skewed! (Or a lot)
Can’t wait to see more pics!

  4. have you ever tried using Kilz? It’s a primer type paint that you can also just paint over wallpaper. I had a wouldn’t-die-border too and I finally gave up and just used the Kilz and then painted over it.

  5. Hi

I am in the middle of doing my mother-in-laws bathroom (every square inch is wallpapered!!!)
A trick that will help is fabric softener mixed with water and a plastic spatchula – believe me it works!!!! Give it a try!
email me if you have any questions on how to do it!

    Have a great day.

Thanks April! I’ve finished with that border, but I still have two bathrooms with wallpaper. I’ll have to give your method a try.
