Day Eight

What Whe Wore: grey t-shirt; blue jean capris; black strappy sandals.

First, let me just get it out of the way and say: I LOVE Britney Spear’s new song “Piece of Me.” Is there are support group for people like me or what? It’s in my head, I’m groovin’ to it in my car. I can’t be alone.

Well, day after day of entries seems to result in a lot of crappy entries–stacked end to end. Today was a monster of day. First, Charlie’s Occupational Therapist came to the house. It’s the first time she’s been by, and I absolutely loved the way she jumped right in, showing me different things I could do with him. I think she liked Charlie because she decided that she wants to come every week instead of every other. We’d wanted someone to come every week, but no one had been willing. That’s my boy–charming the pants off the ladies!

Then, I had to drive all over creation getting a certified check for our closing tomorrow. Yes, you heard that right–we close on the house tomorrow. We’re not officially moving in until the end of the month, though. I’m taking Thanksgiving week to peel wall paper, paint, and get new carpet installed. My mother-in-law is off all week, so she’ll be able to help with the baby.

That’s it. I’m busy. I bet everybody is–it’s just that time of year.

PS: I wanted to say thanks to everyone’s nice comments yesterday. I talked to my MIL law about it, and she told me the funiest story. When my husband was a little baby, another mother asked her if he was retarded–he was that laid back. My husband is an engineer, so he’s definitely no dummy. I guess I just have to accept that no two babies are the same.

  1. Congrats on the house! I don’t envy the wallpapering or painting you will be doing, we too took about a month to move in to do that stuff and I’ll tell you, I am still working on parts of the house, but it is well worth it.

  2. Ditto on the congrats on the house!! It’ll be so nice to have your own space to settle into and grow old in..lol..wish I was closer, I’d come help. No, no painting and wallpapering for me..i’d just entertain Charlie for ya…lolll (selfish, aren’t I) Anyway, that’s a funny story about your husband, but gosh that other woman must have been so insensitive!! What a thing to ask another mother!! Geeshhhh. Don’t worry about a thing, Charlie will do things in his own time…like all other kids. Every mother stresses about her child. My older daughter came home the other day with a ’67’ on her math quiz. I know she’s only in second grade, but it’s the lowest test score she’s ever brought home..so..I started to panic. We went over the test 10 times at home and she seemed to get it, I just don’t know what happened at school. My sister thought I was nuts to be reacting the way I was, and chocked it up to a off day. Ok, I understand..an off day, but I STILL worry. Anyway, to make a long story short..now you worry about him keeping his head up or focusing his eyes…next year it’ll be his walking..then potty training..then preschool..ughhhhhh…the list is endless chickie…

I should heed my own advice and relax..practice what you teach eh??

Congrats on the house!! Good luck donig all that work. I’m glad you’ll be having fun on your Thanksgiving week 😉

Like everyone else said, don’t worry about Charlie not being at the same place as the other baby. Like you said, it really is true, every baby is different. Dante is ahead of the curve when it comes to physical things, but when it comes to things like vocalizing, he’s behind. And he hasn’t been through anything that Charlie has been through. Like Irene said, now you’re worrying about not picking up toys, then once he does that it’ll be something else.

I hope everything goes smoothly for the closing! It’ll be nice to be in your own place, even if you have to do a little work to get there. Have fun with it!

  5. Congrats on the house!!! That’s really exciting. Have fun redecorating!
    God bless :)

  6. YAY on the OT being willing to come every week. My mum has an OT that she’s been seeing for almost 23 years now and it’s amazing how much help they can give if they are willing. It sounds like Charlie lucked out with this one. And just remember everyone has their own pace and their own stengths and weaknesses. I’m sure he’ll do great! With his parents behind him and all of the prayers he’s having sent on his behalf… I’m sure he’ll do fine.

Congrats on the house too, I hate renovating but love how it looks afterwards…so have fun and when you hit snags just visualize how pretty it will look.

  7. Yay for the house closing!!! Hope it all goes smoothly for ya!

That’s funny about your husband, but geesh don’t some people think before they speak??

  9. Congrats on the houae! And hey we are both married to engineers so I know exactly what you mean, mine is a deep thinker and speaks when he has something to say. He tends to listen a lot closer than most men.

  10. Okay, I’m here to catch up…when you are blogging every day and I don’t visit you for, say, 6 days, well I’m really behind!

    1. Britney Spears??? Say it ain’t so, girl.
